Advanced Course on Vitrification of Human Oocytes, Embryos, and Ovarian Tissue 2020
The purpose of the course is to provide a theoretical and practical study of a technique that has become fundamental in the field of assisted reproduction: the cryopreservation of oocytes, embryos, and ovarian tissue.
Thanks to current vitrification methods, which allow for almost complete recovery of cryopreserved embryos, a new operational strategy has been developed
- Freez all strategy.
Various cryopreservation strategies and their applications, which currently allow the preservation of surplus embryos and the preservation of female fertility, will be analyzed. The course focuses on the central role that embryo cryopreservation plays today in clinical embryology laboratories and in the field of assisted reproduction. In fact, due to the high efficiency of current vitrification methods, which enable the almost complete recovery of cryopreserved embryos, a new operational strategy called the "Freeze-all strategy" has been developed. This approach helps increase pregnancy rates by postponing the transfer of cryopreserved embryos to a subsequent cycle, in which better endometrial receptivity can be achieved compared to the stimulation cycle.
